Beltane Energy & Scorpio Full Moon: What You’re Feeling Explained
There is so much happening energetically today with Beltane and the Full Moon in Scorpio. Can you feel it?
Personally, I don’t usually celebrate Celtic festivals (although I do like the idea of them) and I like to feel that I’m in control of my own body and mind, but I’m always drawn into moon cycles, whether I want to be or not, and I feel the effect of the energy around me. I haven’t been able to sleep properly for days. When I have had a couple of hours, I’ve woken with the most intense and vivid of random dreams, and I’m absolutely exhausted all day long. At the same time, I’m also super exited to reach the tipping point of Spring into Summer, and I can feel the energy shift, the lightness, the warmth, the anticipation, and excitement of what’s to come.
What is Beltane and why does it matter?
Beltane marks the exact midpoint between the spring equinox and summer solstice and is traditionally celebrated on May the first with bonfires, dancing around maypoles, gathering wildflowers and celebrating the union of masculine and feminine energies in nature. It honours fertility, fire, passion, and the awakening of the land.
Beltane is permission to feel more, want more, and come alive, and I love that! Why shouldn’t we all want and have more?
What makes today even more potent is the fact that it converges with the full flower moon in Scorpio, a sign that demands emotional honesty, shadow work, and transformation. Scorpio illuminates hidden desires, fears, grief, and secrets, and asks you to face them rather than tiptoe around them. Beltane’s fire energy on the same day is an invitation to treat desire as a force for transformation rather than something to suppress. And, as if we need a third thing! The Aries Stellium is still active (Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, Chiron, and Eris are clustered in Aries, this is the Science geek in me) which amplifies boldness, urgency, and impulsivity. The combination pushes you towards decisive action while cautioning against reckless words or half-arsed plans.
How the full moon in Scorpio might be affecting you
Hidden feelings may surface; relationships, finances, or creative blocks you’ve avoided start to demand honest attention; what’s been stagnant for a while can finally be planted so that something new can grow; your passion is rekindled. Beltane’s fire stokes whatever you truly desire, new projects, connections, and self-expression; and facing uncomfortable truths now will prevent them from sabotaging you later in the year.
What can you do about it if you’re feeling all these feels?
Simple Beltane rituals to ground your energy
- Journal through the shadows – Ask yourself: What have I been avoiding? What have I been tiptoeing around? What part of me is ready to bloom?
- Hold a release ritual – Write down what you’re ready to let go of and safely burn the paper, honouring Beltane’s fire element.
- Tend to your literal or metaphorical garden – Plant seeds, pull weeds, clear clutter, outward action mirrors inner clearing.
- Take a ritual bath or body cleansing – Water and intention help reset your energy.
- Celebrate with fire – If the weather allows, enjoy time around a firepit or BBQ this evening. Even a single candle works. Light it, state an intention, watch it transform the wax into light.
- Move your body – Dance, walk barefoot on grass to ground your energy, or go for a walk and pick some spring flowers.
- Rest if you need it – Not everyone wants loud celebration. A quiet candle, a mindful walk, or simply noticing the spring blooms around you counts.
Beltane is a turning point, a moment to be honest about what you want, to release what no longer fits, and to step into what’s next.
Whether you feel energised, emotional, or completely drained, trust that something is shifting.
Let yourself be seen, IMPERFECTLY, PASSIONATELY, ALIVE.
